Just a quick message to let everyone know that although our retail outlet in Wellington is temporarily closed as per Government guidelines, we are still very much open for business online and have been overwhelmed by our customer support. So a huge thank you to all thiose who have continued to shop small, not just with me but with all those other little businesses. We really do rely on your support and trust me it is greatly appreciated at a time when we are quite frankly... bricking it! Big love to you all! Lisa x

COMPLETION OF MY HOME WORKSHOP
Since starting the business in 2017 I have predominantly been working from my kitchen table, so to FINALLY have a designated work-space is super exciting!
Here is a little corner of that space and my - beautifully vintage - industrial mid-century tanker desk.
Winner winner chicken dinner!
How wonderful to have gained recognition from British business woman Jacqueline Gold for success as a female entrepreneur.
WOW is about inspiring and celebrating female led small businesses.
Jacqueline - CEO of The Gold Group which includes Ann Summers and Knickerbox - looks for businesses that are interesting, have strong brand values and potential to grow and succeed in their industry.
MEETING MR P
I attended my first SBS event on Tuesday the 12th of February 2019 at the ICC in Birmingham and it certainly didn't disappoint - the day was well organised, informative and inspiring.
Theo Paphitis took centre stage to welcome us, encourage us make the most of what the day had to offer and remind us to stay focused whilst continuing to nurture and grow our businesses in 2019. He gave us some interesting stats about the 2500 strong family of SBS winners, one of which was that 59% of us are sole traders - doing this on our own - yet now, with a wide support network, feeling not so alone.
My day finished with the presentation of my winners certificate and a pic with the man himself.
OPENING OF A RETAIL OUTLET
Eeeeek! A Twist of Somerset has joined the wonderful team at The Emporium Somerset.
After two days of booth readying, mess making, flat pack assembling, fire surround creating and an awful lot of fetching & carrying I am finally in! *wipes brow and opens bottle of wine*
The Emporium is home to over 50 different traders, offering thousands of homeware and gift items, so if you fancy a bit of retail therapy this may just be the place for you.
You will find A Twist of Somerset on the 1st floor:
The Emporium Somerset, Clifton House, Mantle St, Wellington, TA21 8AR
After forming 'A Twist of Somerset' in 2017 I took to social media in order to engage with the world in general. Being a big Dragons Den fan, I followed Theo Paphitis on Twitter, I had always known he had been - and continues to be - a huge advocate for small businesses and entrepreneurship, but I was not aware that he had created something called 'Small Business Sunday'.
Shortened to the hashtag #SBS, each week, Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him and describe their business within the Sunday time slot of 5:00pm - 7:30pm.
Every Monday at 8:00pm, Theo reviews and chooses six lucky SME's who are then re-tweeted and given access to a wonderful winners network.
So in January 2017 I sent my first tweet to Theo, attempting to stand out in a sea of other small business owners, adding a pic of one of my products and a short description of what 'A Twist of Somerset' is all about.... and then I waited with anticipation.... but who said it was going to be easy right!?
With over 370,000 applications since SBS started in 2010 and under 1% of the entries making the grade I had my work cut out. But i'm nothing if not determined and I continued to Tweet EVERY single Sunday evening a further 89 weeks. At 8:00pm on Monday the 24th of September 2018 my mobile phone had what I can only describe as a nuclear meltdown, Theo had re-tweeted my entry and a torrent of notifications headed my way immediately....FINALLY!
SOMERSET LIVING MAGAZINE
Taking some time out - after mugging the postman earlier - to read Septembers issue of Somerset Living Magazine which features a fabulous double page article on how 'A Twist of Somerset' came to be.
What a wonderful - scary - fun - exhausting - marvelous journey it has been so far!
STYLE AT HOME MAGAZINE
I will take 'a masterclass in upcycling perfection' all day long!
A lucky spot by a friend in Style at Home Magazine.

I appear to have returned home to some sort of upcycling club going on in my back garden!
My daughter and some of her local friends are on a furniture makeover mission.
Even though I am well aware my stock and materials are depleting - and i'm 99.9% sure I will be cleaning up after them all - it is lovely to see the youngsters excited about brining their own ideas to life.
I always look forward to my favorite mag dropping through the letterbox each month, so I was super excited to see one of my latest pieces featured on page 16 of issue 49 of Reloved Magazine.
A great write up from PlastiKote UK spray paints, who have featured my storage jar project.
